Matteo Mancuso’s Upcoming Album: A Fusion of Talent and Guidance from Steve Vai
Scheduled for release in 2026, Matteo Mancuso’s second studio album promises to be a groundbreaking project, featuring the legendary Steve Vai. This collaboration not onyl showcases Mancuso’s growth as an artist but also incorporates invaluable insights from Vai during the recording process.
Continuing the Journey: Route 96
Following the success of his debut album, The Journey, which established him as a rising star in the guitar world, mancuso’s upcoming release, Route 96, aims to elevate his artistry even further. This new LP is set to build on the momentum he gained in 2023, with endorsements from guitar icons like Tosin Abasi and Al Di meola.
After the release of his single Paul Position, inspired by the renowned Paul Gilbert, Mancuso is taking a bold step by collaborating with one of his idols, steve Vai, who not only contributes to the track Solar Wind but also provides essential recording advice that has shaped the album’s sound.
Innovative Sound Quality: the 96kHz Advantage
Unlike his previous work,Mancuso’s Route 96 was recorded at a high-resolution sample rate of 96kHz,a decision influenced by Vai’s expertise. This technical choice is notable as it minimizes digital artifacts and enhances the overall audio quality, allowing for a richer listening experience.
“This album has helped me understand my musical identity better,” Mancuso reflects. “I went through a process of refining my sound, which led me to discover the elements I truly enjoy in the music I create and listen to.”
A Journey of self-Revelation
He continues,”While my first album was a product of extensive study,I now focus more on listening to the music that resonates with me. Route 96 feels more authentic and true to my artistic voice.”
this isn’t the first time Vai has mentored Mancuso; he has previously encouraged him to embrace his individuality as a guitarist, emphasizing that each musician has a unique voice that cannot be replicated. This guidance has propelled Mancuso on a path of self-exploration, allowing his true musical essence to shine through.
New Sounds and Collaborations
While fans eagerly await the release of Solar wind, the first single from the album,Isla Feliz, has already made waves. Featuring the gypsy jazz virtuoso Antoine Boyer, this track showcases Mancuso’s signature Yamaha Revstar guitar and serves as a heartfelt tribute to his Latin classical guitar influences, all while incorporating electric guitar elements for added depth.
“This album has come at the right time,” Mancuso expresses. “I’m looking forward to a busy 2026 filled with tours, and I wanted to present something fresh and innovative. The ideas are more original and melodically robust, with deeper harmonic explorations. I believe it truly reflects who I am as a musician.”
In related news, guitar legend Al Di Meola has shared his thoughts on Mancuso’s rapid ascent in the music scene, while Mancuso himself has recently discussed his preference for baritone guitars over seven-strings when seeking a fuller low-end sound.
