Yvette Young’s New Signature Guitar: A Closer Look
Yvette Young has been on a creative roll lately. Beyond her contributions to James Gunn’s Superman last year, crafting soothing tunes for emo fans, and launching her signature pedal, the Walrus Audio Qi etherealizer, she has also been diligently working on her latest signature Ibanez Talman guitar.
A Legacy of Signature Models
this isn’t Young’s first venture into designing a signature guitar. her collaboration with Ibanez began in 2020 with the introduction of her first model, the Slime Green Sparkle YY10 electric guitar.
Following that, she released the orange Cream sparkle YY20, which features a more conventional Telecaster-style setup just a year later.

In a conversation with Guitar World last year,Young expressed her excitement about her upcoming model,stating,”this is my primary instrument right now – I’m realy fond of the pickups,” hinting at its potential release.
Recently, in an interview with Guitar.com, she confirmed the launch of her new Pink Sparkle signature model, which will feature P-90 pickups – a first for her.
“We started with the YY10, which had Strat-style pickups, then moved to Tele-style pickups,” she explained. “Now, I’m wondering why I waited so long to embrace P-90s. I’m kicking myself as they sound so rich.”
“Lately, I’ve been drawn to heavier music, leaning into grunge and sludge, with plenty of fuzz and overdrive tones,” she added.
Choosing the Right Pickups
When it came to selecting pickups, Young shared, “I went with Wilkinsons. I tested numerous P-90s from various brands, and the Wilkinsons stood out. I even did a blind test without knowing which ones I was trying.”
What to Expect from the New Model
In addition to the P-90 pickups and vibrant finish, the final model will also feature “unique art inlays” and a rosewood fingerboard. Even though the official release date is still under wraps, Young is thrilled about this new addition to her collection.
“I’m ecstatic to introduce this guitar because it truly reflects my current tonal preferences. The Pink Sparkle is a homage to my very first guitar, which was gifted to me by ibanez,” she concluded.
