Guitar Center Unveils ambitious Plans for Its Own Guitar brand
In an unexpected move, guitar Center has announced the creation of its very own in-house guitar brand, inviting musicians to contribute their ideas and feedback.
CEO Gabe Dalporto shared this exciting news via social media last month, outlining the companyS bold vision to innovate the guitar industry. He emphasized that the aim is to explore new horizons in guitar design.
“We’re about to embark on something extraordinary,” Dalporto stated in a TikTok video. “Our goal is to create a groundbreaking guitar and brand from scratch. The design of guitars has remained relatively unchanged for decades, and we’re here to transform that.”
Dalporto further expressed, “What sets us apart is our connection with you, the musicians. We have the privilege of collaborating with talented players like you. Together, we will share our designs, gather your insights, and refine our creations to craft the ultimate guitar.”
This initiative has sparked considerable interest within the music community. While many applaud Guitar Center’s commitment to involving players in the design process, some skeptics question the ethics of soliciting free ideas for a project that will ultimately be sold for profit.

To address potential concerns regarding this unique brand-customer collaboration, Guitar Center has taken proactive legal measures, as outlined in their TikTok announcement.
“By submitting your idea, you affirm that it is your original creation, and you grant Guitar Center the rights to use it without additional licensing,” the statement clarifies. “You relinquish all rights to your idea, allowing Guitar Center to utilize it without any obligation for payment or attribution.”
Dalporto has also established a dedicated subreddit, r/GuitarLab, were early concepts are being discussed. In a recent post,he sought input on pickup designs,as the unnamed guitar brand begins to shape its electronic components. Another inquiry focused on vibrato systems.
While it’s not unusual for retailers to venture into creating their own guitar lines-thomann with its Harley Benton series and Andertons with EastCoast Guitars-Guitar Center’s decision to launch a proprietary brand is a significant step. The music community is eager to see how this venture unfolds and what the final product will be named.
