Squier Paranormal Series: A Unique Twist on Classics
During a recent visit to Fender’s headquarters, I was captivated by one particular model: the Stratocaster Deluxe. As a lifelong Strat enthusiast and a fan of Telecasters, the Squier Paranormal Stratocaster Deluxe seems to blend the best of both worlds. Featuring a Tele neck single-coil for that signature twang and a bridge humbucker for added depth, it even includes coil-splitting capabilities. If only I could replicate this pickup setup in my Strat!
Visually, it’s striking. Being part of the Squier Paranormal series, it offers a fresh take on the classic strat with a unique pickguard design and an oversized headstock that truly stands out. the sunburst finish? Absolutely stunning.
Additionally, the 2026 Squier Paranormal lineup features a Bigsby troublemaker Tele, Electric VI, Baritone Jazzmaster, and Thinline Precision Bass, ensuring there’s something for every player.
EQD Sunn O))) HalfLife octave Distortion and Booster: A Sonic Revolution
EarthQuaker Devices has launched the Sunn O))) HalfLife Octave Distortion and Booster pedal, marking the first time this pedal joins the EQD lineup permanently. This new iteration builds on the limited V1 and V2 versions, delivering the same intense tones in a more compact design.
If you’re into doom, noise, or experimental rock, this pedal is likely calling your name.Described as a ‘three-headed sonic beast,’ it features octave-up fuzz reminiscent of the Shin-Ei FY2 and FY6 pedals, a classic Rat-style distortion, and a MOSFET clean boost for harmonic richness and feedback.
Words can hardly capture its essence-check out the video above to hear it in action!
Fender Limited Edition Pro Classic Silent: A Game-Changer for Single-Coils
As much as I adore my Strat, the hum that accompanies single-coil pickups can be quite bothersome. While I accept it as part of the charm, there are moments I wish it could be silenced without resorting to noiseless pickups, which often lack the same character.
fender has ingeniously developed the ‘Silent System,’ a possibly revolutionary approach to single-coil guitars. This passive, patent-pending technology aims to eliminate single-coil hum while preserving the original tone. Even though details on its functionality are limited, I’m eager to learn more (stay tuned for updates).
This innovative system debuted in the new limited Pro Classic Silent series, which includes both a Strat and a Tele, available in a variety of attractive finishes and fingerboard options.
