Utilized 16x Rupert Neve Designs 5052 microphone preamps, with outputs directed to Avid HD analog-to-digital converters linked to an Avid HDX card. The session was recorded using Pro Tools Ultimate on an Apple Mac Pro 2019 with a 16-core processor.
Basic EQ: The EQ settings were applied using the Neve 5052 mic preamps, with no post-recording EQ or processing.
“Microphones were positioned to ensure phase alignment, particularly with stereo pairs. The AEA R88 MK2 mics maintained phase integrity, while adjustments were made on kick and snare mics to correct phase discrepancies. Hi-pass filters were selectively applied to hi-hat, ride, and overhead mics. The studio’s live room was acoustically treated to capture a neutral sound, allowing the room mics to accurately reflect the instruments’ natural tones. Using 16 identical mic preamps minimized tonal and phase discrepancies, ensuring a faithful representation of the instruments.”
