“The microphones were positioned with overheads and room mics aligned to the centre of⁣ the snare drum to maintain phase coherence in any‌ stereo pair. The ⁤AEA R88 MK2 mics, being stereo, had no phase issues, while the front center room mic and center overhead were aligned for consistent stereo imaging. The phase reverse switch on the front kick mic was engaged to correct phase‌ discrepancies between the two bass drum mics. The phase reverse switch was also used on the bottom snare mic to align the phase between the two snare‌ mics.Hi-pass filters were applied only to the hi-hat mic, ride⁤ mic, and overheads. The studio’s live room has been acoustically treated to provide a neutral ⁤sound close to the drums and cymbals, with the room⁣ mics ⁤capturing an authentic representation of⁢ the instruments’ sound. Utilizing 16 identical mic pre-amps also aids in maintaining electrical phase, ensuring ⁢no tonal or phase discrepancies.
