SpiritboxS Mike Stringer Raffles Gear to Aid L.A. Wildfire Relief Efforts
The Canadian metal outfit Spiritbox is taking action to assist those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles by organizing a raffle featuring an array of gear used by guitarist Mike Stringer during tours and recording sessions.
Wildfires Cause Widespread Destruction
As igniting on January 7, the wildfires have wreaked havoc, with damage estimates soaring to a staggering $250 billion, as reported by Accuweather. Thousands of homes have been lost, including those of notable musicians like Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden and Larry ‘Ler’ LeLonde of Primus, who have seen their residences consumed by flames, along with their cherished instruments and equipment.
Currently, around 150,000 individuals have been evacuated, with tragic reports of 27 confirmed fatalities and over 20 people still unaccounted for.
Community Support and Initiatives
In response to the crisis, Gibson has pledged $250,000 towards wildfire relief efforts. Fender has initiated a program to replace instruments lost in the fires, while Guitar Center has also stepped up to support the music community during this challenging time.
“The wildfires in southern California have been catastrophic over the past week and a half. I want to contribute not just through donations but by raising as much as I can to help,” Stringer expressed. “Witnessing the devastation has been heart-wrenching, especially since our own Josh Gilbert [bass] lost his home in the Eaton Fire.”
Raffle Details and Prizes
Tickets for the raffle are available for $25 each, with all proceeds directed to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles and Altadena Girls, which is focused on providing clothing for teenage girls affected by the disaster.
The raffle winner will receive an notable collection of gear, including a custom Aristides 070R seven-string guitar equipped with an Evertune bridge, a Jackson Pro Plus Series seven-string guitar, a Fender Tone Master Pro amp modeler, and a powerful 50-watt EVH 5150 head.
“These items have been part of my journey on stage and in the studio,” Stringer noted regarding the gear. “I’m excited to see them find a new home while supporting these fantastic organizations.”
Interestingly, the Jackson guitar might potentially be the same one used in his Cellar Door playthrough, filmed in an empty arena just moments before opening its doors to fans.
Broader Support for Musicians
Additional support for wildfire victims has emerged from organizations like MusiCares, the NAMM Foundation, and the Sweet Relief Musicians fund, all of which are providing financial aid to musicians and industry professionals in the Los Angeles area who have been affected.
Raffle tickets can be purchased through Rise Records.
