“I immediately texted him back, saying, ‘Absolutely! Whatever it is, count me in. What’s happening?’” Ian recounted in an interview with Guitar World.
Morello responded, “I’ll keep you posted on the song lineup and who you’ll be performing with. We’re just starting to piece everything together. Sharon [Osbourne] asked me to help coordinate the creative direction.”

Initially, Ian anticipated being part of an all-star jam session. Though, he was taken aback to discover that the event would feature not only Ozzy and Black Sabbath but also a plethora of top-tier acts from the heavy metal scene.
“A few days later, he sent me a list of the artists involved, and I was thrilled to see other bands included. I thought it was just going to be Ozzy and sabbath, along with a few all-star collaborations,” Ian explained.
“I noticed other bands listed but didn’t see Anthrax. I thought, ‘Well, I’m already committed…’ So I suggested, ‘How about we get Anthrax on board? I’m not the only Sabbath enthusiast in our group.’ Tom replied, ‘Let me check on that…’ Just five minutes later, he confirmed, ‘You’re in.’”

As for what fans can anticipate from this landmark heavy metal event, Ian hinted, “I’ll be involved in a couple of Sabbath tracks as part of one of the all-star lineups.I’m not entirely sure how the production will unfold.”
“There will be around 200 different performances leading up to Sabbath’s set, but I don’t need to stress about that. My focus is on learning the songs.”
Along with Anthrax, this star-studded event will mark ozzy’s reunion with the original Black Sabbath lineup for the first time in two decades, alongside legendary acts like Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice in Chains, Halestorm, and Lamb of God, among many others.
