New Additions to the American Vintage II Lineup
At this year’s NAMM show,Fender unveiled two exciting additions to its American Vintage II collection: the 1951 telecaster and the 1965 Stratocaster. These models are set to captivate guitarists who appreciate the rich history behind these legendary instruments.
A Nod to the Original Telecaster
The 1951 Telecaster pays homage to the original blackguard telecaster, which made its debut in 1951.This model emerged from a captivating chapter in Fender’s history, where the company had to rename its Broadcaster due to trademark issues with Fred Gretsch Mfg. Co.
Available in a limited Prototype White finish, this Telecaster features an ash body paired with a robust ’51 “U”-shaped hard rock maple neck. It boasts a 7.25” radius fingerboard and vintage tall frets, along with a triple brass saddle bridge and single-line Fender Deluxe tuners. True to the era’s production methods, the guitar includes narrow dot spacing at the 12th fret and a Phillips-head fastener at the truss rod nut.Equipped with Pure Vintage ’51 Telecaster pickups, it promises that classic twang and authentic Fender sound.
The 1965 Stratocaster: A Rock Icon in the Making
Joining the ranks of the existing ’54, ’57, ’61, and ’73 models, the new 1965 stratocaster captures a pivotal moment when the instrument was evolving into what many consider rock’s greatest electric guitar. This model is available in striking colors like Candy Apple Red, Shoreline Gold, and Sonic Blue.
The Strat features a distinctive 1965 “C”-shaped maple neck, complemented by a round-laminated rosewood fingerboard and larger pearl dot inlays. Staying true to its vintage roots, it includes an 11-hole three-ply white pickguard, vintage-style bridge saddles, and “gray bottom” Pure Vintage 1965 pickups, all designed to deliver a sound that resonates with the era.
