# Andy Fairweather Low’s Experience Touring with George Harrison and the Slide Guitar

## A Prolific Guitarist
Andy Fairweather Low is known as one of the guitar world’s most prolific rhythm guitar players, with an impressive resume of collaborations with Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Bob Dylan, and more.
## A Close Encounter with George Harrison
Having once toured with George Harrison, Andy Fairweather Low found himself in an unexpected predicament. Harrison was personally seeking a guitarist and scouted Fairweather Low due to their mutual love of Ry Cooder’s slide guitar playing.
## The Japan Tour Proposition
Harrison’s reps reached out to Fairweather Low with a proposition to join a tour in Japan, despite his lack of experience with slide guitar. This led to a phone call from Roger Forrester, Eric’s manager at the time, conveying Harrison’s wish for Fairweather Low to play all the intricate slide parts, freeing Harrison to focus on singing.
## Taking the Chance
Despite Fairweather Low’s reservations about his ability to fill the role, he accepted the offer. He contacted George Harrison directly to voice his concerns, but after a conversation, Harrison insisted on Fairweather Low joining him for the role.
## A Unique Experience
Despite Fairweather Low’s objections, Harrison remained adamant about his decision. As a result, Fairweather Low embraced the challenge, playing the slide guitar, and ultimately hitting it off with Harrison on tour.
