Fender is paying tribute to the legendary motown bassist with the release of the James Jamerson 1962 Precision Bass, a reimagining of an instrument that revolutionized the low-end sound in music history.

This reissue marks the 75th anniversary of the precision Bass, featuring the James Jamerson ’62 Precision Bass pickup, meticulously designed to recreate the “rich, punchy low end that defined the Motown sound.”
The single-pickup model boasts a classic alder body paired with a period-accurate C-shaped neck and a slab rosewood fingerboard. additional features include a chrome Pure vintage four-saddle bridge with threaded steel saddles, knurled flat-top controls, and reverse open-gear tuners.

Fender is also tapping into the trend of relic’d instruments, offering an Heirloom nitrocellulose lacquer sunburst finish that will develop a unique patina over time, allowing each bass to age gracefully, much like the original.
the 34″ scale bass is equipped with 20 vintage tall frets, clay dot inlays, vintage clay side dots, and a bone nut, ensuring a classic feel and playability.
In line with Jamerson’s preferences, each instrument is strung with .052-.110-gauge La Bella Flat Wound strings,providing that authentic motown vibe.
