“Eventually, I‍ managed to buy a Stratocaster-style guitar from the JC⁣ Penney catalog. It was crafted at the ⁢renowned Matsumoku factory in Japan, and I consider it a masterpiece. I paid $99 ⁢for it, and it came with a case. I still use it in recording sessions‍ today.”

Musical Influences from Your Hometown

“During my teenage years, I played in bands with older musicians, often twice my age. We performed at bars, Elks clubs, and VFW halls. While most kids worked ⁤at fast-food joints, I was⁤ earning money playing music,” he explains.

“The ⁢musicians I collaborated with were far more skilled than I was, and ‍I learned a great deal from them. To this day, I strive to surround myself ⁤with talented musicians.”

evolution of My Gear

“my first⁤ professional setup included a Mesa Boogie Mark III amp, paired with various guitars depending on the gig. For traditional country shows, I opted for a Telecaster, ‍while a ⁣Stratocaster was my choice for pop and rock performances. Though, my go-to ⁤was usually‌ a Les Paul, with the Mark III amp accompanying ⁢me on⁢ my travels around the globe,” lynne describes.

“Once I secured my record deal, Universal offered to upgrade my rig. I collaborated with Randy Gabbard at Tour Supply in Nashville to replicate the best setup⁢ I had ever heard, which ⁤belonged to Peter Frampton. I had the chance to hear him ⁤rehearse at Soundcheck ‌in Nashville, where his technician informed me that Randy had ⁤built his rig. It ‍was a complex arrangement featuring multiple hand-wired preamps, tube power amps, effects, and vintage pedals controlled by MIDI switchers, all powering‍ a pair of Marshall 4×12 cabinets with 35-watt Greenbacks.”

Creating Custom Guitars

“We’ve been developing a custom line of guitars for‍ some time now, aiming⁣ to enhance the natural sustain of electric guitars. Our bodies are crafted from solid hardwood-no chambers or lightweight‌ materials. If you want sustain, you⁢ need the weight,” Lynne explains.

“We ⁢avoid using paints,‌ urethanes, or shellacs that seal the wood and ⁢inhibit vibration. Instead, we ‌utilize leather dyes and Tru Oil that penetrate the wood, allowing it to resonate freely.achieving a lovely gloss finish requires numerous coats of ‍Tru Oil and meticulous wet sanding, often taking up to three months to cure,” he adds.

“This level of⁤ craftsmanship is unattainable in mass production at larger guitar companies. The ⁢sustain in our guitars is significantly enhanced, and clients can customize the pickups and hardware to their liking, with our master luthier, Chuck McNeil, overseeing every⁢ aspect of the build.”

The Impact of Late Discovery in Music

“In today’s music landscape, factors like your background and financial resources can significantly influence your chances of success,” Rockie ‍Lynne reflects. “Streaming services often provide minimal income, making it challenging for artists to thrive.”

“As a lifelong motorcyclist, I believe the mantra for young riders applies perfectly to musicians: it’s your journey. You’re not in competition with anyone else. Follow your own path.”

Challenges in the Music Business

“Recently, David Gilmour mentioned in Guitar ⁢World that the lack of fair compensation from streaming platforms discourages musicians from creating original content. This is likely why ⁤we see a rise ‌in tribute bands,” Lynne explains.

“Art has always faced hurdles, but those obstacles cannot extinguish the creative spirit. Creativity is resilient, much like a weed that can break through concrete.”

“There are certainly groups within the industry that control perceptions of who is ‘in’ and who is ‘out,’ particularly in the Americana genre. However, platforms like TikTok and YouTube have been ‍revolutionary in democratizing access and diminishing the influence of traditional gatekeepers.”
