Gretsch Unveils Limited-Edition Streamliner Guitars: A Fusion of Classic Charm and Modern Innovation
Gretsch has introduced an exciting expansion to its Streamliner series, featuring three new limited-edition electric guitars, each enhanced with Bigsby vibratos for an elevated playing experience.
Meet the New Trio
This latest collection is tailored for “guitarists who seek more,” showcasing the G2622TG Streamliner Center Block Double-Cut with Bigsby, the G2655TG Streamliner Center Block Jr. Double-Cut with Bigsby, and the G2420TG Streamliner Hollow Body with Bigsby. each model boasts a catchy name that reflects its unique character.
A Nod to Tradition with a Modern Twist
the launch follows Gretsch’s recent partnership with Guitar Center, which introduced another Streamliner model featuring unconventional f-holes. However, this new lineup emphasizes the brand’s commitment to blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary enhancements, as the Fender-owned company promotes its “high performance and style.”
Innovative Build and Design
Two of the guitars in this collection feature a center block designed to enhance resonance within the arched maple body. This design strikes a balance between the lightweight feel of a hollowbody guitar and a fuller, richer sound, resulting in improved attack, sustain, and excellent feedback rejection—addressing common issues associated with hollowbody designs.
additionally, the guitars are equipped with soft C-profile set necks made from nato, topped with 12″ radius laurel fingerboards that include 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid big block inlays. The hardware features an Adjusto-Matic bridge paired with a laurel base to complement the Bigsby vibratos, along with die-cast sealed tuners for reliable tuning stability.
Distinct Features Across Models
While the three models share many similarities, they each have unique characteristics. They are fitted with Bigsby B70, B50, and B60 vibratos, respectively, and the G2655TG features a more compact double-cutaway body. The G2420TG stands out as a hollowbody variant.
Powerful Pickups for Dynamic Sound
Equipped with Broad’Tron BT-3S pickups utilizing Alnico 5 and Alnico 2 magnets, these guitars deliver a well-balanced EQ. Players can anticipate “strong mids, tight yet full lows, and smooth, clear highs that maintain a musical quality.”
Tonal Versatility at Your Fingertips
With coil-splitting capabilities for bright single-coil tones, a three-way switch, and Volume, Tone, and Master volume controls, these guitars offer a wide range of tonal options without overwhelming complexity.
Elegant Aesthetics
The G-Arrow knobs add a touch of sophistication, complemented by gold hardware that contrasts beautifully with the Midnight sapphire, Riviera Blue, and Cadillac Green finishes.
Revitalizing the Streamliner Legacy
“The Streamliner collection revitalizes the best elements from the past while integrating exciting new features to provide outstanding performance, sound, and style at an amazing value,” states Gretsch.
“It bursts into the modern era with powerful sound and style, while retaining everything you expect from a Gretsch.”
