Renewed bonds: Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks Hint at Future Collaborations
Lindsey Buckingham has onc again sparked excitement among fans by suggesting that he and Stevie Nicks may have new projects on the horizon.Reflecting on their rekindled friendship, he described the upcoming year as “quite intriguing.”
In a recent interview with E!, Buckingham discussed the upcoming fleetwood Mac documentary and the healing journey he has experienced with Nicks, his former partner and bandmate.
“The process of creating this documentary has been a healing journey for all of us,” Buckingham shared.

When asked about the prospect of touring with fleetwood Mac, Buckingham took a more cautious stance, emphasizing that mending his relationship with Nicks holds greater significance than a band reunion.
“When we parted ways in 2019, it was not under the best circumstances,” he reflected. “Everyone was unhappy,but we’ve since resolved those issues.”
“Stevie and I are in constant interaction now,” he continued.”Next year promises to be quite captivating, as I believe several developments will unfold.”
Whatever these developments may be, Buckingham’s remarks indicate a significant shift in the dynamic between two of Fleetwood Mac’s key figures.

Buckingham and Nicks, who were romantically linked during their early years, joined fleetwood Mac on New Year’s Eve in 1974 after their stint as Buckingham Nicks. Thay became pivotal to the band’s success in the mid-1970s, thanks to their songwriting prowess and Buckingham’s remarkable fingerstyle guitar technique. Buckingham remained with the band until 1987, while Nicks departed in 1990.Both returned in 1997, but Buckingham’s exit in 2018 was marked by controversy.
Following his departure, Buckingham claimed in an interview with People that it was ”entirely Stevie’s decision,” alleging that Nicks had issued an ultimatum: either he would leave, or she would.
Nicks countered this narrative, stating that she had not demanded Buckingham’s firing but had instead chosen to distance herself from what she perceived as a toxic environment.
“I did not demand he be fired,” she clarified. “I chose to remove myself from the band and a situation that was detrimental to my well-being. I was finished. If the band continued without me, that was their choice.”

Signs of reconciliation began to emerge last year with the reissue of Buckingham Nicks, their 1973 album. Nicks shared a heartfelt letter she had written in 1973, expressing her belief in Buckingham’s destined success. She also revealed that they had resumed communication, despite the tensions that followed his departure from Fleetwood Mac.
“Lindsey and I discussed[[[[the album]just last night,” she noted. “It feels like this whole situation happened just yesterday.”
Earlier this year, Buckingham hinted at a potential collaboration with Nicks in an Instagram video.Looking ahead to 2026, he spoke about the renewed connection that the Buckingham Nicks reissue has fostered.
“On a broader level, the energy generated by buckingham Nicks seems to have reignited a connection between Stevie and me,” he stated. “What that specifically leads to,I wouldn’t want to speculate just yet,but I genuinely believe it will result in something positive and meaningful.”

However,the prospect of a Fleetwood Mac reunion remains uncertain. Nicks has consistently ruled out the possibility following the passing of keyboardist and vocalist Christine McVie in 2022.
“Without Christine, it’s simply not feasible,” Nicks stated in an interview with Mojo. ”There’s no way to bring Fleetwood Mac back together without her.”
buckingham, conversely, has expressed a willingness to reunite with the band. In a 2024 conversation with Conan O’Brien, he stated he would join Fleetwood Mac “in a heartbeat.”
“Absolutely, in a heartbeat,” he affirmed. “If there’s a chance for healing, that would be splendid. It would be fitting to conclude on a more harmonious note.”
for now, Buckingham’s recent comments suggest a potentially exciting new chapter for both him and Nicks, rather than a straightforward Fleetwood Mac reunion.
