March 2025: The Guitar Tracks You Can’t Miss
Greetings, music enthusiasts! welcome to the latest edition of Guitar World editors’ selections, where we spotlight the standout guitar tracks that have made waves over the past month.
With our curated Spotify playlist below, we’ve compiled our top new releases from March, diving deep into the artistry, tones, and songwriting that have electrified our six-string senses.
Innovative Sounds from the New wave of Rock
This month, the guitar scene is buzzing with fresh talent, and they’re not holding back. Machine Gun Kelly, praised by Tim Henson for revitalizing guitar in contemporary music, has returned with his controversial Schecter Razorblade signature model in your name forever. This track blends his rap roots with punk-rock energy, reminiscent of the early days of Linkin Park, featuring a surprisingly subdued solo from Synyster Gates.
Though, it’s YUNGBLUD who truly raises the bar with Hello Heaven, Hello. This nine-minute epic, adorned with orchestral elements, is a hard-rock anthem that transcends expectations. It’s akin to The Black Parade for the Gen Z audience, infused with influences from Aerosmith and Queen, while co-guitarist Adam Warrington channels his inner Jimmy Page. If there’s a song that can bridge the gap between rock guitar fans of all ages, this is it.
Heavyweights and Genre-Benders
On the heavier side, Sleep Token is gearing up for their fourth album, Even In Arcadia, with the lead single Emergence showcasing their remarkable evolution. The track builds suspense for 2:40 before unleashing a barrage of eight-string riffs that will leave you breathless. Only Bloodywood can rival their genre-blending prowess, with kismat standing out as a prime example of their fusion of Indian folk and metalcore.

Masterful Guitar Work in 2025
Pierre Danel from France’s Novelists is carving out a unique niche by infusing fusion elements into anthemic metal. His guitar work in Say My Name showcases an notable blend of technique, taste, and tone, delivering a fluidity that is a rarity in the genre. It’s arguably one of the standout solos of 2025 so far.
In a similar vein, Randy McStine, known for his collaboration with Steven Wilson, offers a rich tapestry of evocative textures in his work. his track Objects Outlive Us, wich spans an aspiring 23 minutes, features some of the most inspiring and transcendent guitar performances I’ve encountered in recent memory.

march 2025: A Deep Dive into This Month’s must-Hear Tracks
Curious about the latest in music this month? After curating my personal playlist,I found myself with over three hours of standout tracks. Just like in the previous months, the highlights come from artists who are redefining the guitar landscape in innovative ways. Here are some of my top picks!
Exploring New Sounds: Feeble Little Horse
Labeling Pittsburgh’s quartet, feeble little horse,as merely “alt” or “indie” feels limiting. their latest single, This is Real, defies conventional categorization. The song employs the classic loud/quiet/loud dynamic, but the way the infectious verses transition into a fuzz-laden chorus—one that truly deserves more than just a casual listen—left me utterly captivated, even at lower volumes.
illuminati Hotties: A Fuzz-Fueled Anthem
In a similar vein, 777, the latest release from illuminati hotties, showcases not one but two unforgettable sing-along solos. These moments are a nostalgic reminder of why many of us fell in love with playing guitar in the first place.

Samantha Fish: A Fresh take on Blues
Switching gears, Samantha Fish’s I’m done Runnin’ stands out for its refreshing approach to blues, steering clear of common clichés. While she pays homage to her influences, the chorus feels distinctly modern, and her solo weaves seamlessly through the chord progression. It takes a skilled musician to deliver such smoothness without overshadowing the song, showcasing Fish’s extraordinary songwriting talent.
Shoutouts to Rising Stars
Additionally, I want to highlight Superheaven’s Stare at the Void—a band I’ve raved about before—and Orchid Mantis’s ethereal new track, Spirit Circle, which continues to impress.

Rethinking Guitar’s Role in Music
This month, I’ve been reflecting on how guitarists often instinctively respond to musical inquiries with “guitar!” While we are fortunate to wield an instrument that can adapt to various styles, we frequently let it dominate the mix with heavy chord progressions.
Two tracks from the indie scene have caught my attention for their innovative use of guitar—or sometimes the absence of it. Broncho’s I Swear, the latest from this Oklahoma-based band, envelops listeners in airy, synth-like textures, complemented by a subtly mixed acoustic guitar that floats over a robust bass line, punctuated by brief bursts of jangly electric guitar reminiscent of Johnny Marr.
Similarly, Seattle’s Great Grandpa has taken a thoughtful approach to their music. Their recent single, Never Rest, from the upcoming album Patience, Moonbeam, exemplifies this. The song began on Pat Goodwin’s acoustic guitar, but in the studio, they creatively reassign melodies to various instruments—be it piano, bass, strings, or electric guitar—showing that a song can evolve beyond its acoustic origins.

March 2025: Unveiling the Hottest Tracks in Music
This month has been a treasure trove for music lovers, with my personal playlist exceeding three hours of captivating tunes. As with previous months, the standout tracks come from artists who are pushing the boundaries of their craft in exciting new directions. Here are some highlights!
Innovative Sounds from The Callous Daoboys
In the realm of metalcore, atlanta’s The Callous Daoboys are making waves with their latest singles, two-Headed Trout and The Demon of Unreality Limping Like A Dog. These tracks blend heavy guitar riffs with unexpected elements like Latin percussion and folk-inspired fiddle, creating a unique soundscape that feels fresh and dynamic. When the powerful riffs burst through the speakers, accompanied by playful sound effects, it’s an exhilarating experience.

Celebrating New Releases: Medium Build and More
Since the beginning of 2025, my listening habits have been heavily influenced by three remarkable artists: Medium Build, Divorce, and Rachel Chinouriri. The fact that all three have dropped new material this March feels like a stroke of luck.
Divorce’s latest album, Drive to Goldenhammer, is a brilliant showcase of earthy indie rock. The track Jet Show stands out with its rich, sludgy tones and slide guitar work, which resonates with my current captivation with slide guitar due to my own playing commitments.
Simultaneously occurring, Rachel Chinouriri continues to prove that 2025 is her year, releasing Can We Talk About Isaac?, a powerful, riff-driven follow-up to her collaboration with sombr last month.
Conversely,Medium Build (Nicholas Carpenter) takes a different approach with White Male Privilege, stripping back the production to deliver a poignant commentary that is as instrumentally dynamic as it is indeed thematically impactful.
Overpass: The Rising Stars of Indie Rock
At the forefront of the UK indie-rock scene, Overpass is making a meaningful impact with their new EP, Dependent.Their ability to channel the essence of late ’90s and early 2000s arena rock is impressive, and the track Slow serves as an excellent introduction for new listeners, featuring grand progressions, massive hooks, and a chorus that’s destined for stadiums.
Lastly, I can’t overlook Joe Bonamassa’s latest release, Shake This Ground, which is already a strong contender for solo of the year. If you’re in the mood for some classic blues rock, this track is a must-listen.

March 2025: A Musical Journey Through Diverse Sounds
The first half of March had me immersed in the vibrant rhythms of bachata, merengue, and salsa from the Dominican Republic. As the month progressed, I found myself drawn to a more eclectic mix of playlists, with a noticeable shift towards pop influences.
Lady Gaga’s captivating Performance
Lady gaga’s recent performance of Killah on SNL was nothing short of mesmerizing, likely ranking among the most memorable moments in the show’s history. The live rendition compelled me to explore the studio version, which is heavily influenced by the sounds of Prince and the Bowie era of Young Americans. The track features guitars from renowned producer Andrew Watt, echoing the essence of Bowie’s Fame and even hints of Prince’s Kiss and Sign o’ the Times, infusing a funky vibe that perfectly complements its electro-industrial style.
Jennie and Dua Lipa: A Catchy Collaboration
Next up is Handlebars, a collaboration between Jennie and Dua Lipa from Jennie’s new album, Ruby. This R&B/pop track has been stuck in my head for weeks, featuring a standout bassline that’s both smooth and effortlessly cool. It draws parallels to Dua Lipa’s recent work, notably Radical Optimism, while also evoking the spirit of Childish Gambino’s acclaimed 2016 album, Awaken, My Love!.

Mickey callisto: A Rising Star
Shifting gears to an emerging talent, Mickey Callisto’s track Take It Easy is gaining traction following his recent appearance on Britain’s Got Talent. This independent artist has been diligently crafting music over the past few years, consistently delivering catchy tunes.
Take It Easy is a disco-inspired track reminiscent of the ’80s, showcasing Callisto’s vocal style that echoes Freddie Mercury. The song features a disco guitar riff that evolves into a classic rock-style solo, making it a standout piece that would impress even Brian May.
Little Simz: A Powerful Statement
Little Simz’s latest release, free, is characterized by intricate fingerstyle acoustic guitar and a groovy bassline. This track may also reflect her recent legal battle against former producer Inflo, where she is seeking £1.7 million (approximately $2.19 million). Simz’s effortless delivery and sharp lyrics are enhanced by lush instrumentation, showcasing her willingness to experiment and evolve as an artist—truly embodying the essence of being “free.”
