The inception of this album stemmed from a desire to create something beyond a typical Delirium record. “We felt that a third album is a significant milestone, so we aimed for something grander-a full-fledged rock opera with a cinematic concept. It was an enterprising goal!”

“We had previously written a couple of stories that didn’t excite us enough to pursue,” Lennon explains. “Then I stumbled upon the paperclip dilemma, a thought experiment warning about the potential dangers of an unchecked AI system.”
“The idea of a super-smart robot turning everything into paper clips as it doesn’t understand the consequences was amusing to us. We thought it would be entertaining to weave that concept into our narrative,” he adds. “While we weren’t aiming for relevance, the timing turned out to be quite fitting, as many are questioning whether we’ve gone too far with technology.”

When it comes to their studio process, Lennon describes a collaborative approach reminiscent of the early days of Lennon and McCartney.”We’ve explored various methods, often jamming on ideas and recording snippets on our phones. The most common approach is to bring individual song ideas to each other, and if one of us resonates with it, we work together to complete it.”

“I typically write on an acoustic guitar because I’m too lazy to set up an amp just for songwriting,” he admits. “However, I also find that having a keyboard or piano nearby can unlock new ideas when I’m feeling stuck.”

Sean fondly recalls his first guitar, a Martin 00-15, which he purchased from a vintage shop while working on his 2006 solo album, Amiable fire. ”It’s my favorite guitar,” he says. “It’s compact and easy to transport, and I have a sentimental attachment to it.”
“I still tour with it, but I also use Fender Acoustasonic guitars. They’re lightweight and durable, making them perfect for touring.I’ve had my share of damaged acoustics, so I prefer these for their resilience,” he explains.
“Modern guitar manufacturers have really improved their craftsmanship over the years. even budget-friendly guitars now play exceptionally well, which wasn’t the case in the past.”

For their recent singles, WAP (What a Predicament) and Meat machine, Lennon reveals that they recorded at Les’ studio, Rancho Relaxo. “We discovered a Mesa/Boogie amp with 10″ speakers in an unusual spot, and it became our go-to for about three weeks!”
“Most of the sounds you hear are derived from my pedalboard. I prefer not to switch out gear frequently; the charm of our records lies in the simplicity of our setup,” he concludes.

“The Tremopolis reacts to the volume of the guitar, creating a tremolo effect that varies dramatically based on how you play. It produces some truly wild sounds, almost glitch-like at times,” he adds enthusiastically.”This pedal inspired the creation of Melody of Entropy itself. I was demonstrating it to Les, and what started as a simple showcase turned into a full-fledged song.”
Electric Guitar Favorites: A Personal Touch
When it comes to electric guitars, Lennon has a soft spot for Jazzmasters. “I own a ’67 and a particularly exquisite ’59 model. They’re my prized possessions, but I hesitate to tour with them due to the risk of damage,” he shares.
“Thanks to Nels Cline, I connected with Bilt Guitars, who crafted several custom guitars for me. If you’re a fan of the Delirium, you’ll recognize my silver and green sparkle bilt guitars. They are the first custom instruments I’ve owned that rival the craftsmanship of vintage Fender guitars from the ’50s,” he notes with pride.

“I might have a bit more technical skill, but I don’t consider myself a better songwriter than him,” he adds thoughtfully.
