Fender Vintera III Series
Watch On
My admiration for fender runs deep, and the Vintera series has truly captured my heart. The Vintera III aims to redefine historical accuracy, offering a diverse array of guitars that delve into various decades, resulting in a remarkably comprehensive collection.
This innovative approach to the ‘vintage-inspired’ concept is refreshing, especially considering how often we encounter the term ‘vintage-inspired’ in guitar descriptions. The Vintera series serves as an ideal platform to showcase this ethos.
gone are the days of generic decade-themed guitars. The Vintera III takes it a step further, presenting a variety of Telecasters and Stratocasters from different eras, including mid and late ’60s Strats, as well as late ’50s and mid ’60s Teles. This extensive selection can be overwhelming, but it opens the door to explore the unique quirks and details of each model.
Among the many standout features, my personal favorite is the stunning sunburst Jaguar. With a rhythm/lead switching circuit and a built-in mute system,it reignited my passion for Fender offsets. I’m ready to invest in one right away!
Epiphone Futura Series
watch On
One of the standout impressions from NAMM 2026 in January was the notable offerings from Gibson and epiphone, particularly the latter.
The Futura series was a game-changer for us. These guitars are visually stunning and priced under $900, featuring a blend of modern specifications and sleek designs.
As the name suggests, the Futura series gives a modern twist to classic Gibson shapes, including the SG,Les Paul,ES-355,Firebird,Explorer,and Flying V,with an RD model included for good measure.
Featuring stainless steel frets, color-shifting finishes, ProBucker pickups, and Super 400-style pearloid split-block inlays, along with compound radius fingerboards, Epiphone has truly outdone itself.
Gibson Les Paul Studio Double Trouble
I must also highlight the Les Paul Studio Double Trouble, which was showcased at NAMM 2026. Having owned a Gibson Les Paul studio as my first serious electric guitar, I have a special fondness for this model.
The vibrant burst finishes paired with the exposed Double Trouble humbuckers add a delightful flair. I thoroughly enjoyed the Gibson USA Standard Double Troubles, so seeing this configuration introduced to the Studio series is a meaningful plus for me.
Gretsch Limited Edition 1958 Custom Falcon and Penguin
Watch On
Gretsch has unveiled some stunning limited edition models this week, and they are truly eye-catching. Available in both Falcon and Penguin styles, these guitars feature a striking Emerald Night metallic finish along with period-accurate details that pay tribute to the iconic Gretsch guitars of 1958.
This includes TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Filter-tron pickups, vintage chambering in the mahogany/maple body, and nitro lacquer finishes. However, modern enhancements like string-through Bigsby tailpieces and Luminlay side dots add a contemporary twist. Absolutely delightful!
Old Blood Noise Endeavors: Setback
Watch On
I can’t complete these gear round-ups without featuring some ambient, soundscape-oriented device, and this week, the spotlight is on Old Blood Noise Endeavors’ Setback Reverse Delay. As expected from a reverse delay pedal, this unit allows for some truly creative sound manipulation.
While it appears straightforward to use, the minimalistic controls can unlock a range of unique effects, producing everything from lo-fi textures and cinematic soundscapes to quirky echoes and bit-crushed sounds.
