Introducing the O Tone 40: Orange Amps’ Latest Sonic Marvel
NAMM 2025: Renowned British amplifier creators, Orange Amps, have unveiled the O tone 40, a solid-state combo amp that they believe is destined for legendary status.
Powerful performance in a compact Design
This 40-watt Class A/B amplifier features a single channel that delivers a “signature clean” sound. It comes equipped with built-in tremolo and reverb effects, a buffered effects loop, and an extraordinary volume output, making it a robust choice for musicians seeking straightforward yet powerful performance.
Vintage warmth Meets Modern Technology
Despite its solid-state design, the O Tone 40 aims to capture the vintage warmth reminiscent of the 1960s. It is particularly tailored for use with pedalboards and overdrive pedals, positioning itself as an ideal companion for gigging guitarists in smaller venues.
Innovative effects for Creative Soundscapes
The amp features a bias-wobbled, single-ended JFET tremolo circuit, which promises to deliver “immense depth and breadth” from its adjustable effect. Users can expect a range of sounds, from sweeping tones to sharp, staccato patterns, all of which can be activated via a footswitch.
Additionally, the reverb effect emulates a classic spring reverb, utilizing a digital module to create “warm spaciousness, delicate shimmers, and ethereal trails,” ensuring a rich auditory experience.
Seamless Integration with Effects
In line with modern combo amps, the O Tone 40 includes a fully buffered, low-impedance effects loop, allowing musicians to easily integrate a variety of effects with the clean channel. The amp is powered by a 12” Voice of the world speaker, enhancing its sound quality.
Direct Output for Versatile Use
A direct output feature enables musicians to record in the studio or perform live without the need for a microphone, providing versatility for various performance settings.
A Pedalboard’s Best Friend
Ade Emsley, the amp’s designer, describes the O Tone 40 as “a blank canvas” for creativity, emphasizing its surprising loudness for its compact size.
Availability and Pricing
The Orange O Tone 40 is now available for purchase at a price of $399,offered in both Orange and Black finishes.
