A⁢ Note from Paul

“The⁣ microphone setup‌ was meticulously arranged, with overheads ‌and ‌room mics positioned to the center of the snare drum to maintain phase coherence. The AEA R88 MK2 mics, being stereo, posed no phase issues, while the ‍front center room mic and center overhead were aligned for a consistent stereo image. Phase adjustments were made on‍ the kick and snare mics as necessary. Hi-pass filters were applied only to the hi-hat, ride, and overhead mics. ‍The AKG ‍C414B mics on⁤ the toms provide a flat portrayal, as ⁤do the Electrovoice PL80 mics on the snare. Every effort was made to ensure that the ‘no EQ’ sound ⁢example in the video accurately ‌reflects the drums’ natural sound in the live room, which has been acoustically treated for neutrality. Using 16 identical mic preamps also ‌ensures consistency in tone and phase. the goal was to capture the drums’ ⁣true ⁢sound and‌ demonstrate ⁢the potential for sound manipulation.”
