Introducing the SansAmp marty Friedman: A Game-Changer for Guitarists
Tech 21 has unveiled the SansAmp Marty Friedman, a signature pedal designed specifically for the renowned electric guitar maestro.
This innovative collaboration aims to capture Friedman’s iconic sound while maintaining the simplicity he values in both live performances and studio sessions. The pedal features a sleek silver finish and is designed to be “compact, user-friendly, and ready to plug in,” offering a range of clean, distorted, and lead tones meticulously crafted by Friedman himself.
Advanced Features for Performance and Studio Use
Building on the accomplished framework of the SansAmp PSA 2.0, this signature model includes both performance and Studio modes. The Performance mode is pre-loaded with Friedman’s essential live tones, allowing for spontaneous playing, while the Studio mode provides access to an notable 128 preset slots for more complex arrangements.
Control options include Drive, Low, Mid, and High settings, along with Reverb and a built-in Noise Gate to eliminate unwanted noise. Additionally, a Filter control has been integrated to shape the mid-range frequencies according to Friedman’s preferred tonal characteristics.
Innovative Technology and User-Friendly Design
The SansAmp technology also features cabinet simulation, allowing guitarists to replicate cabinet sounds without the hassle of transporting heavy equipment. Other practical features include a chromatic tuner, an effects loop, and a MIDI interface, catering to players who prefer a streamlined setup on stage.
Andrew Barta, the visionary behind SansAmp, has long championed analog equipment throughout his career. He argues that many digital amp models lack depth and sensitivity, often failing to capture the subtleties of a guitarist’s playing style.
Despite his commitment to analog, Barta believes he has successfully “cracked the code” with this new pedal, achieving the dynamics, responsiveness, and fluidity of analog gear in a digital format. This breakthrough coincided with the opportunity to collaborate with Friedman.
“This is the moment! This pedal has been in the making for quite some time, and only a brilliant designer like Andrew Barta at tech 21 could create something that sounds this incredible while being so easy to use,” Friedman expressed.
“Such straightforward effects have never before delivered world-class sound until now.I’m honored to have my name associated with this pioneering product.”
“The Marty Friedman Signature SansAmp encapsulates Marty’s essential tones while offering versatility for a variety of musical styles,” Tech 21 adds.
For those interested in enhancing their sound, the Tech 21 SansAmp Marty Friedman pedal is available for $349.
