Guitar Player is excited to collaborate with Another Planet Entertainment to present the SatchVai band at the iconic Fox Theater in Oakland, California, on Saturday, April 4.
This remarkable ensemble, featuring guitar legends Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, is set to kick off its inaugural U.S. tour,aptly named Surfing With the Hydra. The evening will also showcase Animals as leaders, led by the unusual Tosin Abasi, making it a must-see event for fans of six, seven, and eight-string guitar mastery.
Satriani expresses his enthusiasm, stating, “This is a show you absolutely cannot afford to miss!”
In March 2024, SatchVai made waves with their debut tour and the release of their single “I Wanna Play my Guitar,” featuring the legendary Glenn Hughes on vocals.Their latest track, “dancing,” showcases a vibrant Latin groove, with Satriani and Vai intertwining their melodic prowess.
Satriani reveals that the concert will feature fresh tracks from the upcoming SatchVai album, alongside fan favorites from their extensive catalog. the lineup also includes guitarist Pete Thorn (known for his work with Chris cornell and Don Henley), drummer Kenny Aronoff (who has played with John Fogerty and John Mellencamp), and bassist Marco Mendoza (of Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy fame). this powerhouse group promises an unforgettable night of guitar brilliance and dynamic musicianship.
Additionally, Animals As Leaders will commemorate the tenth anniversary of their groundbreaking album The Joy of Motion by performing it in its entirety.
