Introducing the Darkglass anagram Guitar Essentials
Watch On
The competition in the amp modeler sector is heating up, with Darkglass emerging as an unexpected contender against established names like Neural DSP and Line 6. their entry into the electric guitar modeler arena comes with the Anagram multi-effects pedal, specifically designed for guitarists.
Darkglass, known for its bass amp and effects expertise and co-founded by Neural DSP’s Douglas Castro, has successfully launched a guitar version of its popular Anagram pedal. This new addition could potentially rival my Quad Cortex mini.
With its sleek design and a 7-inch display, the Anagram’s standout feature is its compatibility with NAM (Neural Amp Modeling). For those unfamiliar, NAM is a free, open-source platform that provides users with a vast array of amp, cabinet, and effects profiles.
All these profiles can be integrated into the Anagram Guitar Essentials pedals, offering nearly limitless tonal possibilities. Darkglass has indicated that this is a limited-time offer, but many musicians, including myself, hope it remains available for a while longer.
Reviving the Guild S-300 Deluxe
Watch On
This week brought a delightful surprise: the Guild S-300 Deluxe has made its comeback nearly 50 years after being considered too avant-garde for its time. This guitar, first launched in 1977, still holds its own against modern designs.
With its unique offset shape, the S-300 Deluxe resembles a blend of contemporary models like the Ibanez Alpha, Ernie Ball Music Man Kaizen, and Strandberg Boden, making it a striking addition to any collection.
While the finishes may be a bit bold for my taste-I would have preferred some softer pastel options-there’s no denying the S-300 Deluxe makes a statement. guild continues to innovate with fresh designs, and their Surfliner model has been one of the standout offsets in recent years, proving that guild is a brand worth watching.
Fender ’62 Deluxe Amplifier
Watch On
While black panel, silver panel, and tweed Fender amplifiers frequently enough steal the spotlight, the lesser-known brown-panel amps deserve recognition. Produced in the early 1960s, these unique combos served as a transitional phase between the black and tweed models, delivering a distinctive sound profile.
Fender is reviving interest in these “hidden gems” with the introduction of the ’62 Deluxe. This amp promises a woody, punchy clean tone that can easily morph into a fiery overdrive when pushed to its limits.I had the opportunity to hear one at Fender’s headquarters recently, and I can attest to its impressive sound quality.
This release is significant for two reasons: it not only provides guitarists with a nuanced Fender tone but also highlights some of the quirky gear from the past. If Fender continues to explore this niche, we might see even more exciting discoveries in future releases.
