# New Signature Tim Commerford Guitar Unveiled by Ernie Ball Music Man

Ernie Ball Music Man has released a new signature guitar for Tim Commerford, inspired by the bassist’s iconic pawnshop StingRay featured on the first Rage Against The Machine record.

## Two Versions of the New Guitar

The two newly introduced formats include an active four-string in a Xavier Green finish and a Quentin Blue-colored passive edition.

# The StingRay Bass: A Symbol of Commerford’s Impactful Basslines

Commerford, known for his politically-driven basslines, was drawn to the StingRay bass since he saw it at a pawnshop. The bass played a significant role in the creation of the first Rage record and has since been an integral part of Commerford’s music journey.

## Features of the New Signature Guitar

The limited-run, newly optimized StingRay model features solid ash bodies, roasted maple necks with five-bolt joints, and ebony fretboards. It also includes painted headstocks matching the body colorways and black lightweight clover-style peg heads, complemented by classic oval pickguards.

The guitars also offer string-through bridges with vintage plated saddles and adjustable mute pads.

## Electronics and Custom Features

Both the passive and active models come with StingRay humbuckers featuring neodymium magnets, offering more output and a wider range of sounds. The passive model features a three-position parallel/single-coil/series pickup rotary switch and a push volume control with passive gain boost. The active model comes with a three-band preamp with 18 volts of clean headroom. Commerford’s personalized thumb ramp, placed alongside the pickups, adds a unique touch to the guitars.

## Unique Features from Commerford’s Perspective

Commerford shares that the adjustable thumb ramp, designed for thumb players like himself, is a feature that makes this bass unique and comfortable for players who anchor down while playing.

## The Final Touch: Availability and Pricing

The Tim Commerford StingRay models are now available, priced at $3,099 each.
