Beyond the TikTok Persona
“People often perceive me as just a TikTok star, but they don’t realise I’ve been honing my craft since 2010, enduring wild bootleg tours where three of us would squeeze into the back of a truck,” she shares. “I’ve performed in front of empty rooms, and there was even a gig where half the audience walked out, shouting, ‘You suck!’ Trust me, I’ve faced my share of criticism.”
The Turning point
Wong reflects,“Many individuals throw in the towel after facing such failures, thinking,‘I’ll just set my guitar aside and pursue something else.’ I completely understand how daunting this can be. Yet, I believe there comes a pivotal moment when failure can pave the way to success, and that’s where the real magic unfolds.”
A Journey of Persistence
In a previous conversation with Guitar World, Wong opened up about her tumultuous journey in the music scene, revealing that she has been part of touring bands since the age of 20. She described her experiences as a “love/hate relationship” with music, even reaching a point where she set her guitars aside for three years to take on a corporate job.
