This revelation led to the footage’s revival, thanks to the collaborative efforts of Reel Revival Film and the Pink Floyd Research Group, who had previously worked on restoring fan-shot footage of Pink Floyd’s 1975 performances. Together, they digitized, color-corrected the film, and synchronized it with audio recordings from the concert.
The restored footage is now available on YouTube via the channel ledzepfilm and features a selection of Led Zeppelin’s greatest hits. The performance opens with The Song Remains the Same, showcasing Jimmy Page effortlessly maneuvering his iconic twin-neck Gibson EDS-1275, followed by classics like Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, and Kashmir.

“We brought the Super 8 camera to test a new film that would work indoors,” Ström recalls in an interview with Led Zeppelin News. “Getting the camera in was easy; it was quite small,and I think I had it tucked in my trousers.”
“The previous night’s show was reported as a disaster due to electrical failures caused by the laser,” he adds. “generators were set up in the alley we passed before entering. We didn’t understand their presence at first, but I recalled from my army days that they were generators. Naturally, we were concerned about the performance.”
Fortunately, the concert went off without a hitch, indicating that the generators were likely a precautionary measure. “I’ve kept this film hidden all these years,” Ström admits. “I shared it with a few friends, guitarists who went wild over it, and that was the silent version.”
This release coincides with the recent theatrical debut of Becoming Led Zeppelin, a thorough documentary chronicling the band’s ascent to fame. Additionally, last year saw the emergence of previously unseen footage from their record-breaking 1977 concert at the Pontiac Dome.
