“I composed Never Gonna Change in just four minutes. It’s a straightforward pop-punk track with four chords. I’m a huge fan of The Offspring, and I could easily imagine Dexter singing it, so I reached out to him.”

I frequently enough get through most of a song before deciding who I want to feature on it. For instance, The Tailor has a heavy industrial vibe, so I thoght, ‘I need to reach out to Marilyn Manson.’ Since Manson is a friend, it was easy to get the ball rolling.”
He shared a similar experiance with Dexter Holland, stating, “I wrote Never Gonna Change so quickly because it felt right.I could hear Dexter’s voice on it, so I texted him, and that’s how it went for most of the tracks I didn’t sing myself.”

Sometimes, I’ll layer additional guitars or incorporate EDM samples, and if it suits my vocal range, I’ll sing it myself. If not, I’ll reach out to one of my talented friends.”
When discussing his diverse musical styles, Morrison stated, “I learned everything about rhythm from steve Jones. If it effectively works, it’s good, nonetheless of the genre label. The Sex Pistols wrote only 12 songs, but each one has a memorable chorus.”
He emphasized that while the Pistols were known for their raw energy, their songs were fundamentally pop at heart, characterized by catchy choruses, which he strives to emulate in his own work.

When asked about using different equipment for various styles, Morrison replied, “It really depends on the sound I’m aiming for. Such as, if I have a riff in G-D-A, I might play it in a Noel Gallagher style using open chords. For that, I’d likely use my modified JCM 2000 amp, which has been altered by Dave friedman to produce a unique sound.”
He continued, “I’d pair that with my signature Knaggs guitar equipped with P90 pickups. Then, I’d switch to my Friedman BE-100 Deluxe head with a les Paul for power chords, layering them left and right. I love recording the same part twice to create a fuller sound.”
“This technique not only thickens the sound but also adds an organic feel since it’s unfeasible to play it exactly the same way each time. I often pan the tracks at ten and two o’clock and then layer additional tracks with different rhythmic patterns hard left and right,” he added.

I requested a thicker neck profile to enhance tone, as most Les Paul Juniors have a slimmer neck that doesn’t capture the full sound.”
“With my larger fingers, I needed a neck that felt more ample, similar to a Les Paul, but equipped with Fralin Noiseless P90s. This way, while Steve plays humbuckers, I can use P90s, and together we create a fantastic sound.I know that both Billy and Steve appreciate my contributions to the performance, which is what truly matters to me,” he adds.

Reflecting on his past struggles with addiction, Morrison shares, “That’s a profound question.I had a moment of clarity when I realized I was on the brink of death. I was homeless, living under a piece of corrugated iron, and using drugs in my neck.”

I was a difficult person to be around during my addiction, especially with a $500-a-day habit. I’ve been clean for 30 years now, and I hope people see me as a better person today,” he concludes.
