Honoring a Musical Icon: The Dickey Betts Tribute Concert
A star-studded tribute concert, titled In Memory of Dickey Betts, is set to take place on February 28 at the historic Macon city Auditorium in macon, Georgia, a city deeply rooted in the legacy of the Allman Brothers Band. This special event will be hosted by Duane Betts, son of the legendary guitarist.
A Stellar Lineup of Musical Greats
The concert will showcase an remarkable array of talent,including former members of the allman Brothers Band such as Warren Haynes,Derek trucks,Jaimoe,Chuck Leavell,and Oteil Burbridge. Joining them will be renowned artists like Susan Tedeschi, Duane Betts, Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman), Charlie Starr from Blackberry Smoke, wet Willie’s jimmy Hall, and Lamar Williams Jr., son of the band’s bassist from the ’70s. Additional performers are expected to be announced as the date approaches.

Duane Betts shared his heartfelt thoughts,stating,“For many of us,my father’s greatest gift was his music. I am thrilled to unite with some cherished friends to celebrate the richness of his life and, of course, to share the beautiful melodies he is celebrated for.”
Supporting Music Education
A portion of the concert’s proceeds will be dedicated to enhancing music education in Dickey Betts’ honor, including the establishment of the Dickey Betts Scholarship at berklee College of Music.

Remembering Dickey Betts
Dickey Betts, who passed away on April 18, 2024, at the age of 80, left an indelible mark on the music world. Andy Aledort from guitar World, who toured extensively with Betts, reflected on his legacy, noting that he “paved the way for what became known as southern rock.”
