Jack White Passes the Torch: Gifts His Custom Triplecaster to Rising Star Yoyoyoshie
In an exciting turn of events, Jack White has presented one of his signature guitars to his “new favorite guitarist,” a talented musician who may look familiar to fans of a recent promotional campaign.
The iconic frontman of The White Stripes collaborated with fender last year to launch a unique trio of signature products, including his heavily modified Telecaster, a versatile combo amplifier, and the innovative Acoustasonic model. During a visit to Fender’s headquarters in Japan, White seized the possibility to connect with an emerging guitarist whose skills have captivated him.
Yoyoyoshie, a member of the Japanese punk band Otoboke Beaver, is the lucky recipient of White’s latest Triplecaster. She recently gained attention as the star of fender’s promotional video for the reissue of the beloved Hello Kitty Stratocaster, where she showcased her energetic playing alongside the iconic character.
White has been an admirer of Yoyoyoshie’s work for quite some time. In a post from 2024, he expressed, “Yoyoyoshie is my new favorite guitar player. If you find yourself in a tough spot, you definitely want her on your side.” Now, he has taken his admiration a step further by gifting her a remarkable instrument.
“At fender Guitars in Tokyo,Jack White presented a brand new Triplecaster guitar, designed by him,to his new favorite guitarist @yoyoyoshiechan from Otoboke Beaver!” the announcement read. It also noted the presence of Eddie Vedder, who humorously attempted to break in a new guitar strap,a task that frequently enough requires some serious effort from musicians.
Reflecting on her experience with the Fender x Hello Kitty project last year, Yoyoyoshie shared that she had the chance to test out White’s Triplecaster. “Before and after the shoot, I had a Fender field trip,” she recalled. “I got to handle the signature models of both Jack White and Flea at the headquarters and factory, and it was incredible to feel the legacy of such respected musicians.”
This generous gesture from White follows a spontaneous guitar exchange he had with Vernon Reid, where both musicians showcased their newly released signature models—Reid with his Reverend Totem series. It was a fitting moment for the two guitarists to share their passion for music.
Additionally, Kirk Hammett of Metallica recently received a Triplecaster from White, jokingly mentioning that “Greeny is feeling a bit neglected!” after acquiring the prized guitar.
In other news related to Jack White, he has announced that a Custom Shop version of the Triplecaster is currently in development. He has also made headlines with a passionate statement about how “rock and roll is a living, breathing entity,” responding to critics of his shorter live performances.
