Unveiling Musical Legends: A Night of Historic Guitars in London
On September 16, Denmark Street in London will transform into a haven for guitar enthusiasts as it hosts an remarkable event featuring some of the most iconic guitars in history. Among the star attractions are the legendary ‘Bursts and T-Bone Walker’s 1949 ES-5N, all set to be played live by a lineup of Britain’s finest guitarists.
Star Performers: Chris Buck and Chris Turpin
Joining forces at The Lower Third venue, Chris Buck from Cardinal Black will share the stage wiht Chris Turpin of Mirador, the dynamic rock band he co-leads alongside jake Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet.Together,they will showcase a collection of vintage guitars that have shaped the landscape of rock music,many of which have been wielded by legends like Mick taylor of The Rolling Stones.

The event will also feature a special presentation on vintage Rickenbackers, led by guitar historian Martin Kelly, author of Rickenbacker Guitars: Out of the Frying Pan Into the Fireglo, alongside Richard Barrett, a former member of Tony Hadley’s band and a virtuoso for Guitarist magazine.

Among the stellar guitars confirmed for the evening is the 1959-spec ‘Grainger’ 1960 Les Paul Standard, previously played by Gary Grainger during his time with Rod Stewart’s band in the late ’70s and ’80s. Also on display will be the ex-Mick Taylor ‘Exile’ ‘Burst, a rare original late 1950s ‘Burst, and the aforementioned 1949 Gibson ES-5 that revolutionized electric blues in T-Bone Walker’s hands.
Attendees can also look forward to a stunning array of Golden Era Strats in ultra-rare Custom Colours, alongside benchmark vintage electrics ranging from 60s ES-335s to ’54 Goldtops and rare Rickenbackers, with more landmark guitars to be revealed as the event approaches.

Titled ‘Legendary Guitars on Denmark Street,’ this event is proudly presented by Guitarist magazine in collaboration with Regent Sounds, the historic recording studio-turned-guitar store where The Rolling Stones recorded their debut album, located just across from The Lower Third venue.
Joining Buck and Turpin on stage will be former Guitarist and guitar Techniques editor Neville marten, along with the magazine’s current editor Jamie Dickson.They will share insights and stories about the guitars being showcased, drawing from their extensive experience to illuminate the rich heritage of these instruments.
“I’m absolutely excited to be part of this unique event,” said Neville. “It’s fantastic to highlight rickenbacker, a brand that has produced some of the most influential guitars in history, yet often goes unrecognized. And of course, it’s always a treat to see an original ‘Burst or two, along with some sensational artist instruments. I can’t wait to see everyone there!”
The doors for this highly anticipated event will open at 6 PM, with refreshments available at the bar. The show will continue until after 9 PM, allowing ample time to enjoy the music and the atmosphere.
