Performance and Sound Quality

The Magnitude and Gravity knobs control the output level and gain, respectively, similar to most distortion pedals, while a filter can be engaged via a toggle switch to shape the tone.
The Warp knob adjusts the filter’s cut-off frequency post-fuzz, ranging from 350Hz to 5kHz, while the Dimension knob modifies the Q (bandwidth) of the response, sharpening the peak as you turn it clockwise.
Without engaging the EQ, the pedal delivers a rich, vintage fuzz sound right from the start, with the Gravity knob allowing for a gradual increase in intensity. The tonal balance is well-rounded across frequencies, featuring ample high-end and a slight midrange scoop.

This pedal is highly versatile, serving as a conventional fuzz that feels responsive and cleans up beautifully with the guitar’s volume knob. Engaging the EQ opens up a new realm of possibilities, allowing the interplay between the Dimension (Q) and Warp knobs to create a wide array of tones, from basic fuzz with a distinct character to more extreme, finely-tuned distortions that feature a radiant treble edge.
The Peak footswitch enhances onstage adaptability by adding a boost with a tonal character. When the EQ is off, it provides a practical level increase and enhanced presence for solos. However, when the EQ is activated, it introduces a dramatic tonal conversion to your existing sound settings.
Conclusion
Final Verdict: ★★★★½

Guitar World Summary: Regardless of your allegiance to Muse, the Supermassive Black Fuzz offers a groundbreaking approach to sound shaping, along with versatile footswitch options, making it a pedal that meets a wide range of musical needs.
