NAMM 2025: The legendary amplifier manufacturer marshall is set to unveil an exciting reinterpretation of a classic amp head alongside a dynamic new range of effects pedals, marking its highly anticipated return to the NAMM stage.
Over the weekend, Marshall shared two intriguing teaser videos in anticipation of NAMM 2025, which will be the brand’s first appearance at the event in five years. This comeback is a chance for the iconic company to present “the pinnacle of what marshall has to offer,” with these teasers leading the charge.
Known for its deep-rooted association with the classic rock sound, Marshall has been the amplifier of choice for guitar legends like Jimmy Page, Slash, and Angus Young, contributing to countless unforgettable performances across generations.
As a new chapter unfolds for Marshall, the company hints at the imminent launch of a highly coveted modded JCM amp head.
The initial teaser features an amp with a single row of ten knobs perched atop a 4×12 cabinet,shrouded in shadows,with a spotlight revealing tantalizing glimpses without fully disclosing its identity. Observers can discern a striking resemblance to the iconic JCM900.
Originally launched in January 1990, the JCM900 was celebrated for its master Volume, Reverb, and Gain controls across two channels, complemented by a Presence knob that enhanced its three-band EQ. This all-tube amplifier encapsulated Marshall’s signature tone and remains one of the brand’s most celebrated engineering achievements.
While the specifics of Marshall’s latest offering remain under wraps, the promise of “a new take” suggests that musicians can anticipate more than just a straightforward reissue.
Actually, we believe this could be the first of many in-house modifications that Marshall enthusiasts have eagerly awaited for years.
Marshall’s modded amps have a storied legacy, with numerous esteemed amp designers having gained recognition for enhancing stock Marshalls over the years. It appears that Marshall is finally poised to introduce its own versions.
Additionally, when approached by Guitar World last year regarding the development of modded amps, CEO Jeremy de Maillaird confirmed that his team was “actively working on this.” So, stay tuned for updates!
As for the pedal lineup, details are scarce. The teaser showcases five shadowy stompboxes, all sharing a similar aesthetic. The satisfying click of a footswitch, followed by an overdriven power chord, hints that at least one of these pedals will likely be an overdrive unit.
Historically, Marshall has not ventured deeply into effects pedals. Their offerings have included the SV-1 Chorus Vibrato and the Regenerator—a versatile three-in-one modulation pedal—along with a few others. Though, the brand has primarily focused on various overdrive options, such as The Guv’nor and the Blues Breaker, both of which saw reissues in 2023.
